A lunch to say thank you

This past Saturday we hosted our friends at our house for a thank you/good bye lunch. It was a great afternoon to welcome everyone into our house and to show them how much we have appreciated there support over the many years. It was a blessed day.

We had a local place in town cater for us. We have gotten to know them well.

To the Falls

David and Diane have there granddaughter (Hannah) and friend (Naomi) staying with us since the beginning of July. So we took a trip to the local tourist attraction, T Falls or Thompson Falls. The view is wonderful but the challenge is walking down to the bottom of the falls. I have not done it for years as it can be a struggle especially coming back up. With the altitude and uneven stepping it can be interesting. But we wanted to give it one last try. So we did. It was nice to see that some of the stepping has improved and there are hand rails all the way down. But the way up was slow. But better then I thought it would be.

Library

The days are counting down to having time in the library. So trying to take in as much as I can. These are just a few precious moments.

This is me with Esther. I got close to her when she came from Tanzania to PACE last year. This week she decided that she needed to sit with me and read a story. Even if I was playing a game with other kids.  Blessed

This is Barthez. I helped to teach him (and myself) chess along with a some other kids a few years ago while they were still in Primary school. He is now in High School and just this week has insisted that we play chess again. As you can see my mind was working overtime.

My Gift

I know I have shared about my little gift before. But I could not resit sharing these ones. This is a sister or child of a teacher at school. She calls me mum.

Kauka

This is another nursery school that I have been connected with since I started coming to Kenya. Over the past several years my church has come along side and helped to pay for the portage the kids receive each day. We made another last visit to the school this week.

Victory School

This is a nursery school in a slum town close by. I have working with this one since I started coming to Kenya. This week we made another last visit to this place. It has grown much since I started coming and it would good to visit once again. They have a daycare as well as nursery school. And yes I found the baby's.

Breaking the News

Sorry it has taken so long to make a post. It has been a long but fast few weeks. The beginning of July started with a team from Canada coming to PACE. I know this team and I was very excited to have them here. This made life a little busier but it was a blessing to be with them.
While they were here we told the staff and kids at school that this would be our last long term at PACE. This was a hard time. Knowing it is  happening and saying out loud are two different things. The kids are shocked and there are defiantly more hugs coming but they are doing well. Each day at school now is looked at different. With everyone knowing I really take it all in. The day we told the kids we served them a special meal. Normally they beans and corn (gatheri). We gave them rice, meat, stew, cabbage, orange and muffin. It was a blessing to be able to do this. Next Thursday (Aug. 1) we stay good bye for the last time as the kids head home for Aug. break. Sometimes it is hard to imagine and other times it is best not to think about. But most of all is to remember the blessings they have been as well as how we have been a part of there lives.
