It has been a while since I posted something I know. Has been a busy time with elections kids returning to school and the word that we will have another election. I was excited to be around for the Aug. 8th presidential election. Since kids were home on school break, and I do not have a TV in the house I spent most of the week of elections at Dorris (another missionary here) who has a TV. She also hosts two students during break so had some time with them. It was very interesting to watch the elections unfold. Tuesday they voted. Starting as early as 4am Kenyans lined up to vote. Voting continued until late into the night. Then we spent the next 3 days waiting for the counting to be done and waiting for the outcome. Finally at 11pm at night they announced. The current president was re elected. This brought some violence in certain areas but was quickly stopped. Then the opposition objected the outcome and took it to court. He did this after the last elections in 2013. Most Kenyans were expecting the same outcome. But that is not what happened. The courts agreed with the opposition and over turned the Aug. 8th election. This was an upset. Now we wait for Oct. 17th when they will vote again for the president. The opposition continues to make things difficult. I welcome your prayers as this is very heavy on many Kenyans.
School also started again last week. It was so great to see the kids back at school and to be spending time with them again. This is a short term as they only have about 5 weeks. So there is lots of work that needs to be done. Lots on support needed as the kids look to finish there year. Also for the Class 8 (grade 8) and Form 4 (Grade 12) who will write there major exams in Nov. Class 8 will write for 3 days. Form 4 will right for the whole month of Nov. Welcome your prayers for these kids as well.
I am also very happy to have David and Diane back in Kenya and in the house. It is great to have them around. Especially for the cooking.
My time is coming close. Less then 2 months I will be back in Canada. So had to believe. I continue to look for a place to rest my head while back in Canada. Trusting for a place soon.
Enjoying a wonderful meal with David and Diane
Enjoying Ugali and Greens. Standard food here in Kenya. So Good
