Visit

Lolem is a former student of PACE. I have known her since she I have been coming to Kenya. When she was on school breaks she was staying with another missionary here named Dorris. She is from the US. Dorris is currently in the US. So I am stay at the house with Lolem. So on Sunday I traveled with her to visit her Mom and family. It was an adventure. We took a matatu from town to almost are stop. Then we needed to get out and get into another matatu. Once we reached the town we took a boda (bike) to were her Mom and Aunt live. Lolem comes from a different tribe (Turkana) then the local tribe here. So it was great to be around another tribe and see more traditional living. Also to see how a lot of Kenyan's live in this country. We spent time with the Aunt and then at the Mom's home. It was wonderful. We took chai and bread. Once we were done there we traveled back to town on boda and proceed to Lolems step brothers house. Lolem comes from a father that had two wives. So there are many children. Lolems father passed about two years ago and since then the two families do not get along very well. We took a matatu to the closest town that her step brother lives. Then took another boda to her step brothers. It was far and very muddy. We had to get off the boda at one point and tried to walk around the mud. Then picked the boda again on the other side. We spent some time at the step brothers. Lolem showed me around as this was were she was born and grew up until she came to PACE.

It was a blessed day. I was tired but was a blessing to see were she came from and meet some of her family.

Marsibit

The are many parts of Kenya that I have not seen. One of them is Marsibit. It is more in Northern part of Kenya. There are different tribes in that area that still live very traditionally. It took 7 hours to get there.  The landscape along the way was amazing. And it changed much over the trip. Northern Kenya is very dry and desert like. But these hills appear and it look amazing. We saw some animals but a lot of camels. Once there we met with a local pastor who took us to there ministry and we met some of the people. The second day we spend traveling home. We had a little excitement as we almost ran out of gas.  We stopped at one little village were we got two 1 litter bottle of gas which we were hoping would get us to the next town. We were also hoping that the gas was real and not watered down. We made it and all was good. We were very happy.
