Library

Well the weather continues to be warm here. My body seems to not be used to this warm weather. But I am enjoying it. But the rain needs to come. There is much drought and people starving here. There are signs of the rain coming but it has yet to our area.

I continue enjoy time with the kids. Yesterday I spent some time in the high school library. We had good conversation about music and styles of music. Talked about the appearance of the singers and what they are putting across in there video's. It was interesting and fun to challenge them a little and to talk it all through.

As I mentioned the kids will leave on Monday for there April holiday. The kids are all excited to be back home with there families.

I also had a chance to visit Kauka school last week. This is a school that I have been connected to since I came and my church has been supporting. Once again it was such a great blessing to see them all again.

Kids..What a joy

What can I say more then kids are filled with joy. I love being in Kenya but the kids is were the real joy comes for me. Just being around them and enjoying there company is more then enough to make one smile. It is a daily reminder of why I am here and what my calling is. Still working at getting to know the newer kids. They still look at me like a new person and wonder. So trying to engage with them as much as possible. I have found two new friends. One is the daughter to the new librarian. Here name is Angel. She is two years old. The other is Gifted. She is 4 years old. She is a sister to one of the high school teachers. They are from Nigeria. There mom just passed away so Gifted has come to live with her brother at the school. She has attached to me and it has been my gift. She is filled with smiles most of the time. They both are at the PACE nursery school during the day.
The kids will break for the month of April starting next weekend. They will have the whole month off. We will do some library work for the first two week and then see how things go for the last two weeks. I hope to do some visiting then as well. It seems a little odd to have only been here a few weeks and the kids are already going on break.
I continue to be in the library as much as possible. I miss not being there all the time or organizing it. Diane has asked me to take care of next week so I am looking forward to doing that.
Everyday life remains the same. We are still waiting for the rains to come and it continues to be warm. I am taking in every moment as I can. The last few nights it has looked like rain but still nothing. But it does need to come.
We have also had teams here from the US since I have arrived. So it has been busy in that way as well. Some have joined us in the library which is always a blessing for the kids.

I am Back

I have arrived back in Kenya and it is good to be here.  It will be a week tomorrow that I have arrived and in some ways it feels like I never left. The only big change I am seeing is the weather. I have not been in Kenya for this time of year since 2012. And since I have only seen winter in Canada for the last 5 years I am really not used to warm weather.  But I am really enjoying it and taking it in while it is hear. The hope is that the rains will start soon. You can see some gardens are being prepared in preparation of the rain.
Since here we have lot power twice. A small reminder that I am back.  Washed my clothes by had and walking to town more reminders.  Ones that are not bad just a reminder.
It has been great to be back with the kids. They have grown (yes in four months). It is always a blessing to be greeted back with smiles and running. As of January we have hired a Kenyan librarian. It has been good to have her here and she it doing a good job. This also means my work is changing a bit. I have helped her in the library a few times as she is still getting used to how we have done things. This I do not mind as I enjoy being back with the kids. A little hard not being in the lead but it will all work out.
Slowly I am starting to see more family and friends.
Sleeping at nights is a bit of a challenge but soon my body will realize that this is the way it is.
