Kauka

I was able to visit Kauka last week.  Kauka is a nursery school I got to know through PACE.  It is also the nursery school that my church helps with. It was good to be there and be with Rosemary.  Rosemary teaches the kids and is the wife to the Pastor that started the school.  The school is set but out of town on a busy road.  The main tribe is Turkana. The kids are very poor. Per term they are only required to pay 100 shillings (about $1.50).  The kids were excited to see me and it was good to be there.  I spent the morning there.

Lego Time

It can be sometimes tricking knowing when to bring out certain things in the library.  Mainly with the toys.  You do not want the room to be too full so that you are able to keep track of everything. Lego is one of those things.  Lego is a great active for them to try and find there creative minds but one of those things were items can go missing quickly if not watched.  Well I decided to bring them out last week.  In the Franklin book I was reading it was talking about Franklin counting backwards and forwards.  There was also reference to the number 76.  So I thought about using the lego to help the kids with counting forwards (which is not an issue) and backwards (which can be harder). Once we were done with that I let them play with the lego.  All and all it went really well. Much better then I thought it would go.  So that means we will try and it again.

Imani

Well I finally got to see Imani and the family again.  I spend the day with them and it was good to be with them all.  I was not sure in Imani (who is now 2) would remember me or not but it did not take long and we were laughing and having fun together.  It was wonderful.

Doughnut

Had to share the wonderful doughnuts we found in town.  These are not from Tim Hortons.

Library

Well last week I read the story about Franklin and him making more friends.  So I brought the stuffed toys and explained that they are all different but all loved by God.  Here are a few pictures from that.

Back in the Library

Well I have been back in Kenya now for two weeks and back with the kids in the library.  It has been great remembering all there individual personalities as well as learning there names again.  Some names stay with you some you forget and relearn.  I have also had a chance to be in the nursery with the kids aged 3-5.  Some remember me which always feels good.  Many have commented that it is good that I have come back after my holiday.  In the library I have been reading some Franklin books with were a gift along with some helpful learning material to go with them.  They have been enjoying them.
